That is the reputation the category earned. Most bone conduction headphones clamp a rigid band against your skull, which costs them low end and leaks sound to whoever is standing next to you. StéBuds sit flat on the skin behind the ear, held by hydrogel, so the contact is broader and steadier without the clamping force. Measurements go on this page before the first unit ships.
It is a hydrogel from the same family used in continuous-wear medical sensors, chosen because it holds for hours and comes off without tearing skin. Skin is individual, so the biocompatibility testing and the full material list will be published here before anything ships.
They sit on the flat of skin behind the ear, not in the canal and not over it, so the arms of glasses and most hearing aids keep their own space. Water and sweat resistance is in testing, and the rating will be listed here once it is certified.
